Dulwich Oaks Montessori was founded in 2012 by David Brows and Julia Foxwell, who also own two other successful Montessori Schools -  Dulwich Montessori Nursery School and Lemon Tree Montessori Nursery (Sanderstead).

Dulwich Oaks follows the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) and uses the Montessori Pedagogy to implement this.

Our environment is open-plan and vertically grouped, meaning children from two to five years old mix together. The environment is set up into 5 different areas: Practical Life, Sensorial, Knowledge and Understanding, Literacy and Mathematics. All these areas have a variety of different materials and Montessori activities for the children to engage and work with. The children can travel around, exploring the different materials and recourses independently. The activities range in difficulty.

There are teachers based in each area to facilitate and scaffold the children’s development and learning.

Our homely environment promotes independence and allows the children to develop at their own pace. Our curriculum is moulded specifically for each child’s individual needs and abilities.

The environment allows for free-flow access to our beautiful garden space.

Outdoor education is an important part of the Montessori Pedagogy. We have a free-flow access policy which allows the children to go inside and outdoor freely.

Children develop Gross Motor and Fine Motor skills as they climb, jump and swing. This also develops their social skills as they learn to take turns on equipment and take part in group activities.

The well-kept gardens of Dulwich Oaks Montessori offer a safe place for children to explore nature and embrace their environment. We have a wide range of outdoor equipment and different stations in the garden, such as a water wall, mud kitchen area, gardening and planting, music wall as well as our own Forest School/outdoor learning area. These areas are accompanied by a large climbing frame and risky play log area. Our outdoor space is designed to meet all our children’s need as well as extend them where necessary.

We have also achieved Millie's Mark award which means that all our staff are trained in First Aid and have strong knowledge of Firs Aid Procedures. You can read more about this award here.
